In 2020 I made a work trip to Svalbard, but since there were few flights I had to stay a couple of days extra. Not complaining, as Longyearbyen is beautiful. I chartered a guided tour around the area, and while I expected to be part of a bus full of tourists, I was the only one... So me and the guide drove around in his car and he gave me lots of interesting information about the town and island. The good thing about being alone was that I could ask him to stop anywhere I wanted to shoot some photos.
This lake is just at the the border between the safe and unsafe area outside of Longyearbyen. If you cross this border you have to be armed as the risk of being attacked by an ice-bear is non-zero. Luckily I had a guide and a car, so we just briefly stoppet so I could get this photograph of the calm lake and lonely small cabin.
